The week started off alright. My mom is in California to be with my grandfather, so my father is here by himself. Now, if you know my past at all, you know I don't get along with my father quite well. But he insisted that we come over for dinner Monday so he could visit with the kids. So we did. It was surprisingly okay.
I hate getting paid on the days that we do, especially on the first of the month. I do my errands on the day we get paid so I have the week free to do other necessities, but the one thing that always grinds my gears is how ridiculously busy the grocery stores are on the first. I wish they would stagger the damn food stamps disbursement! At least, most of the stuff that we get is really healthy and I hate to say it, but the majority of the people with food stamps end up getting junk food, so the groceries we get are in stock generally. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-welfare because hey, I've been there before, and there are people who truly do need it. In my opinion though, they should stagger the disbursement, make more restrictions on the items that are purchasable with food stamps and possibly have people take a nutrition class or something because three cart-fulls of chips, soda and ice cream isn't benefiting anyone.
Tuesday Jon really wanted bacon wrapped steak for dinner. I conceded, even though I really wanted to make some fancy stuff. He ended up having a bacon lover's meal, in addition to the bacon wrapped steak, he had bacon wrapped sesame glazed asparagus and double stuffed potatoes featuring (you guessed it) bacon! I had bacon too! The bits on my salad. ha!

Thursday was nothing great. Jon closed, so he worked out in the morning. I wasn't able to yet because I have been trying to recover from this darn sickness! Maddie played Twisted Metal on the Playstation and lasted about an hour before getting "furiousiated" which is her mixing furious and infuriated on purpose because she's "madder than both words." I caught up on housework and threw some dinner in the crockpot because I didn't want to bother with making my kitchen all sorts of messy after just detailing the hell out of it.
Friday was Jon's long day at work. I hate those days. Jon brought home a guy from his work as well. He really likes to help people out, part of the reason I fell for him. I call them his strays. He brings them home, I feed them, and they play video games and talk. It's really a nice thing. It makes me want to open a not for profit type of place, but then again, those places get taken advantage of a lot of the time, so it makes it harder.
We were going to go shopping on Saturday for some Easter stuff, but the bank was only open in the drive-thru and, of course, we put some money in the night drop on Friday. So, needless to say, it wasn't available and we had to put it off until Monday at least. Jon had to work out and then go to work in the afternoon anyway, so it was probably a better solution, although I was quite bummed I didn't get Starbucks. lol
Sunday Jon did yardwork while I did housework. It was nice to see the yard mowed and whacked. He ended up going to play basketball with a couple of guys from his work and I went shopping to surprise him with his favorite dessert. I took the kids to the park after I shopped and waited for Jon to get done playing. We all went home and had a steak dinner. Nothing too fancy there. I made creme brulee for dessert.

Maddie was been sick. It really took a toll on her. She's usually so bright and happy, but she's been so down and looking half-dead. It's so sad. She did recover a lot quicker than the rest of us though. She was only down about a day and a half.

Kira is the one with the lingering cough. She always holds onto coughs for the longest time! At first I was really worried it was whooping cough because I have heard that's been going around in our area. But, she's always whooped when she's coughed, ever since she was a baby. I think it's because she's so little. It's funny that she is the middle child, but she's the runt of my "litter," being the smallest, even since birth.

Silas is a happy baby. He's been only getting up once in the night around 5am, then sleeps until 8-9ish. We have been using a humidifier in our room to help break up the nasty gunk in our chests, but it makes our room really hot. Because of that, we turned the fan on high one night. It didn't work out too well for Silas though, because it was basically the same effect as blowing in his face. He kept gasping for air. I felt bad, but I didn't want to bother Jon so we just returned downstairs for the night.
