June 16 - 22

Monday, Jon had inventory. Even though he had the day "off" he still had to go in at 5am for inventory. :( He got home earlier than I expected and took Silas so I could get some sleep. It was SO nice! Silas had a doctor's appointment
that day too. He weighs 17lbs! He's a cow! The doctor was visibly impressed at how quickly he is advancing. He had to get shots. I hate that so much. Luckily, Jon has held him every time. I did my time with the first two...it's Jon's turn now! lol

We worked came home and made some lunch before we worked out. Then I looked up trails to hike, and we went on a little hike up Jump Creek to a hidden water fall. Getting there was really weird. It was a lot of back roads and there were some creepy tractor tires that had things like "No no no" written on them and stuff. It made me hold the gun a little closer. haha. When we got there though, the girls loved it and Silas was adorable in his little back pack carrier. It was about 1/4 of a mile hike, and the trail was really easy for the girls. We did have to cross a creek, but it was so fun. Jon and I wanted to keep going up a couple harder paths, but with the kids it wouldn't be as fun as just with us. There was A LOT of poison ivy though, so we had to dodge that.

We came home and I made some rice and ham soup. We are pretty strapped this month, me quitting work plus my tuition is putting a strain on us, so we are on a rice and beans meal plan for the time being.

Tuesday Silas was really not feeling well because of his shots the day prior. Then, Jon texted me saying he didn't feel great. Then Kira threw up. It was not a great day.

Wednesday Silas let me sleep until about 8, but then he just played in the bed while I drifted in and out. Around 9, I heard some rustling around, so I came down stairs. Kira was calling me, but she came out with her bowl. She got sick again. I was hoping she'd feel better. Jon said he felt a bit better when he got home from work. He really wanted to try chicken and waffles made from scratch and had been asking me to make it. I really didn't want to because it is SO unhealthy. But, I gave in, finally. We had triple dipped fried chicken and waffles for dinner. It was really good, but really bad, you know? lol. Kira perked up a bit so I gave her half a waffle. She held it down! I was so happy. I burned a rather embarrassing and very sensitive part of myself while making the waffles, so I put the girls to bed, poured some wine, babied myself for the rest of the night.

Thursday Kira and Jon both woke up better. Jon and I worked out before he went to work. I grabbed his check for night deposit so it would be available in the morning in the bank. I really miss direct deposit! I got gas on a credit card so I wouldn't have to tomorrow and so it would save us a little. Jon made the girls some food and they ate there. I came home and did some studying for as long as Silas would let me. None of us were hungry for dinner, so I didn't make anything. Jon got home pretty late and so we just went to bed.

Boy would stare out the window all day if I let him
Friday was pay day, finally! We definitely needed it! It was also Jon's long day, unfortunately. So I combated the grocery store alone. Well, alone with the kids. It was a horrible adventure! I had to get a lot of heavy big stuff, so I ended up having to purchase half of the stuff, then coming back in and getting the rest. So, I get out to the car with the first load and open the trunk. The friggin stroller and baby backpack were in there. Hardly any room for anything else, let along 50lb dog food and 45lb cat food. I stuffed as much as I could in there and put the rest in the car's cab. I look behind me and there's an old guy waiting for my spot. I tried to wave at him to tell him I wasn't done, but he just sat there. So I went back inside for the rest of my load. About 10 minutes later, the damn old man comes up to me and freaks out on me! He called me rude and inconsiderate and what kind of human being am I? It was humiliating. After all that, I tried to finish up as quickly as I could. Kira stepped off the cart and I ran over her foot. She screamed bloody murder the rest of the time. That was great. IF there was anyone who didn't notice us as the guy was screaming at me, they definitely noticed me now! I finally finished up and headed out to the car a second time. I had to pile all the rest of the groceries all around the kids and up front with me. They whined about it the whole way home. Speaking of that drive home, I got stuck behind a SLOW ASS truck and trailer that took the 20 mph chip seal speed limit VERY seriously on the 45 mph road. What a great trip. I had planned to go downtown with the kids for Cruise Night, but after that hellish trip, no way. I just made stuffed steak with mashed potato cakes for dinner and rice krispy treats for dessert instead.

Stuffed Steak
Saturday, we woke up and went to our local farmers market. It was kids day, so we figured it would be fun for all of us. We ended up being there for about 2 hours, talking with all the different people. Jon and I tried this barbecue sauce that was phenomenal! We weren't sure about it going into it, but after we sampled them, WOW! They were this cute old couple, but whatever they do, they've got it down!! We ended up getting three bottles. We also got some spices from this booth that grows their own herbs and mixes up different ones to make delicious spices! The guy knew SO much about smokers that he and Jon talked for almost a half hour comparing recipes and such. haha. They had the most clever names for their stuff too! We got some jam from a guy who's been making the jam with his grandma since he was little. It was really good. Then a roast from a local farm. The girls made bracelets and wrote their name with chalk. The only local thing we didn't buy was our coffee. We would have too, because the M was set up and we LOVE them.

Our loot
We came home and worked out really quick before Jon left for work. The kids and I went to the dollar store and got some stuff. They had little party poppers and the Pop Its for 4th of July. We got a bunch of those and some other non-essential-but-you-have-to-get-it-because-it's-a-dollar items. We came home and the girls played in the sprinklers. A few hours later, Jon texts me saying he wants to have some people over the following day! I ran all over town getting supplies for the last minute bbq, then the girls and I cleaned the house and made spaghetti for dinner. The kids went to bed and I waited up for Jon to get home.

Sunday we woke up early and did the yard. After the yard was done we took a nice hike through the mountains around Jump Creek again. It was about 2 miles and mostly uphill. We even had to do some rock climbing! The girls did really well!

After we got done with the hike, we headed back home to get ready for the barbecue. I took a shower, and Jon set up a mister for the patio. Jon's buddies got there and we all hung out and had fun.
