June 2 - 8

Monday we did some shopping bright and early. Figured, beat the crowds and get it out of the way at the same time. We came home and made some lunch. I made a dessert for later that evening.

Apple Snickers "Salad"
We ended up doing another roast. Jon is in love with that little smoker I bought him. I think I will get him an upgrade for his birthday this year.

Jon's smoker cooking up some nice roast!
I cleaned the house while the roast cooked. Jon's mom gave us a really great backpack child carrier that she used with Jon when he was little. It is awesome! I can do so much with Silas in that little pack. I have a front one, but it kills my back. With him on my back, it's like nothing! It even has a back support thing. It's just a life saver! I got so much more done that day!

Silas loves it!
Tuesday, Silas woke up right as Jon left. His motorcycle is really loud and usually wakes Si up, but I can get him back to sleep most times. Not that morning! It all worked out though because a little later my niece called me. We talked for three and a half hours. I really miss that girl! I didn't do much else that day besides make dinner. It was a great dinner of Chicken Gloria with sauteed Garlic-Lemon Asparagus.

Wednesday morning Silas was grouuuuuchy! He just hates sleep I guess! He went down for a nap at 9:30 AM though, so I made breakfast. I've been trying to eat breakfast better. Usually I just skip it because I've never been a big breakfast eater. But, it's better for a person to jump start their metabolism, so that's what I've been attempting.

I got a couple packages I'd been waiting for.  I gave Maddie one of hers. It was an Elsa shirt. I was going to save it for her birthday, but I stupidly bought the wrong size, so I gave it to her now so she can wear it until it's too small. The other thing I let them have was a pool. It's a crazy cool one. But then they ended up grounded, and they weren't allowed to use it until they were ungrounded.

Thursday was a pretty full day. Jon had to work his 9 hour shift that day instead of Friday, so the kids and I had a MommyKidOut day. We went to WalMart and got a few things, then to the dollar store so that girls could get some stuff for Father's Day. They love buying things for people. They are so meticulous about what they get too. I took a coffee to Jon and then we came home. I was going to take them to lunch, but I decided not to so that they could eat healthier and I could save some money! After we wrapped and hid all the presents for Jon, we decided to make him something. This was our first attempt at a "DADDY" project. We could have done better, but Silas was starting to get cranky and Jon was almost off work.

The girls and I did a quick clean up of the house before Jon got home. I cleaned out the coffee maker really, really good with some vinegar. It was grosser than I'd like to admit. Let's just say, I'm really glad I did it!! The neighbor came by to borrow the weed whacker, and I started on dinner. I made a pizza from scratch for the first time ever. Jon and the girls said it turned out good. I didn't have any, so I'm not sure. I made my own portobello mushroom pizzas instead. Less carbs and more protein that way.

Friday Silas woke up at 6 AM and there was no putting him back down. He was wide awake. But, we got to see Jon off to work, which was nice. The girls actually slept in for a while too. They are beginning to get dark circles under their eyes because they don't get enough sleep, so I was happy they got some extra that morning. Nothing too spectacular happened that day. We had a delicious dinner of steak and crab with cauliflower and sauteed carrots.

Saturday there was a K9 officer fundraising event in Boise. Since I will be a cop soon, I try to involve myself in as many social and volunteer police related things as I can. I took the kids with me since Jon had to work a different schedule. It was fun. They had all sorts of demonstrations and the cops were pretty cool to hang out with. We helped sell dog collars and got to play with the police dogs. The girls got their faces painted too. The kids got tired and hot sooner than I would have liked, but that's life with kids! So we headed back home about an hour before it ended.

We swung by Jon's work so the girls could show him their faces. They also got a drink to cool them off. We went to WalMart because I wanted to get something else for Jon for our anniversary, but I just ended up getting 4th of July outfits for the girls because I couldn't find what I wanted.

I blew up a activity pool for the girls when we got home. It was pretty cool. I wish I had stuff like that when I was little! It had a slide and a rainbow with a sprayer on it with two separate pools. It had a few games like ring toss, ball toss and a little rows for the balls to go down.  They had a blast.

Jon's dad and step-mom were in town, so we were waiting for a convenient for them to head over there. But it was getting late, so we started prepping everything for dinner. Just when Jon got home from grabbing some asparagus, we got the text. So we left everything prepped and headed over, after grabbing some coffee to keep us awake, that is! The kids had a blast over there. Well, the girls did anyway. Silas kept getting scared when Grandma Tina was loud and he would cry and cry. haha. We got home pretty late, but we stuck with our "no fast food rule" and made dinner, exhausted as we were. Salmon, pilaf and steamed asparagus was a much better choice than a burger!

Sunday was yard day for Jon and housework day for me. My house was trashed from the day before. The girls went over to my parents' house for the night. Jon did the yard and spent a lot of one on one time with Silas. It was nice for them to get to bond. Jon watched a basketball game with him while I made dinner. We had sauteed veggies rolled up in steak drizzled with balsamic reduction sauce. For sides, I made stuffed mushrooms and potato salad. I would have rather had asparagus again, but I couldn't make everything healthy. Jon has to have his potatoes! haha

We ended the night with a few Hannibal episodes, a mudslide for me, and a long island for Jon.
